For the mommies and daddies who love the gym, now you can teach your toddler about getting healthy and fit! Each page of this board book has four or five words and illustrations about the gym. It covers exercise equipment, types of squats and crunches, the names of major muscles, and even nutrition and supplements.

I think this is such a fun way to introduce little kids to the importance of having a strong and healthy body! The illustrations are bright and colorful, drawing in your attention. Some of the characters in the illustrations have a funny expression, making it enjoyable and fun to read.

Your Nose!
by Sandra Boynton
5 out of 5 stars
A fox parent sings a song to their little fox cub all about their cute nose. Apparently this nose is the best nose to ever exist! It must be extraordinary and lovable with a magic all its own, because it makes the fox parent so happy to see that little fox cub nose. I loved this cute book! The illustrations are adorable, and each animal character boops their noses together in the sweetest way.

A passel of pigs sing a song about how amazing pigs are, because of their delightful ears, curly tails, their snouts, and their general pink plumpness. Other animals may be smarter or more stylish, but these pigs are fabulous and chubby and they have mega-watt smiles. Those pigs are just so cute and cuddly! The illustrations are very sweet and silly, and I love the simple cartoon art style. Every page is so bright and colorful that it is sure to attract the attention of young readers.

Baby Board Book: Five Little Ducks

Five Little Ducks by Ailie Busby
Five Little Ducks: First Book of Nursery Games
by Ailie Busby (Illustrator)

5 out of 5 stars
This board book is so adorable! It’s full of sweet rhymes from childhood like “This Little Piggy”, “Hickory Dickory Dock”, and “Polly Put the Kettle On”, but also has new rhymes included. The rhymes all have hand motions or other activities that can be done along with the rhymes. This can help young toddlers to learn to hold up a certain number of fingers as we count down from five, or to move their arms or legs as the rhyme instructs. It’s so cute!

These rhymes go way beyond the simple “Peek-a-boo” style that I always found so boring. These are really interesting and fun! There are ducks, dinosaurs, trains, bunnies, and lions. There is roaring, tickling, hopping, clapping, and flying fingers.

I really appreciated that the bright illustrations show all kinds of children; young babies, older toddlers, disabled children in wheelchairs, children with glasses, African, Asian, Caucasian, and Hispanic children. Plus every kid is so cute! I love the art style in this book. Continue reading

Board Book Review: Animal Antics, and Rest and Relax

Animal Antics by Whitney StewartRest & Relax by Whitney Stewart
Animal Antics: Focus and Fun for Little Ones (Mindful Tots)
by Whitney Stewart (Goodreads Author), Rocío Alejandro (Illustrator)

5 out of 5 stars

In Animal Antics, the reader pretends to be an elephant swinging their trunk, then a frog hopping to a lily pad, then a cat stretching and meowing. Finally, the reader sits cross-legged with folded hands to be themselves and have a quiet moment of focus.
In Rest and Relax, the reader is guided through a body awareness exercise, squeezing and tightening their legs and arms, and then releasing and relaxing. Beginning from the toes and feet and ending with the shoulders and neck, this book teaches mindfulness in a relatable and age-appropriate way for toddlers. At the end, the reader is prepared to rest and sleep.

Board Book Review: Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star by Sanja Rešček
Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star: And Other Favorite Bedtime Rhymes
by Sanja Rešček

5 out of 5 stars

This baby board book has over a dozen familiar bedtime rhymes, including “Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star”, “Jack Be Nimble”, “Wee Willie Winkie”, “Hush, Little Baby”, and “Diddle Diddle Dumpling.” There is one especially sweet poem that I had never heard before called “Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear.” The teddy bear touches their nose, touches their toes, turns around, turns out the light, and says good night. It’s adorable!

The best thing about this book is the beautiful illustrations in soft pastel colors and a simple style. The drawings are so cute! I loved the designs of each little character snuggling in bed, sailing through the night sky, or being rocked to sleep by the moon. Continue reading

Board Book Review: Snap, A Happy Book of Colors!

Snap by Patricia Hegarty
Snap (My Little World)
by Patricia Hegarty, Fhiona Galloway  (Illustrator)

5 out of 5 stars

A mischievous crab snaps at the other sea creatures and surprises them. Crab meets a pink jellyfish, a seahorse, a blue fish, a starfish, and a sea turtle. They are all startled by the snapping sound. But when a big shark comes in sight, little crab decides to hide.

I love the die-cut openings in this board book! As you turn each page, the crab’s pincers get smaller and smaller as the cut openings get smaller.

The artwork is very cute and colorful! Just right for little readers who are attracted to bright contrasting colors. The art style is cartoony and simple, with fun ocean floor backgrounds. Continue reading
