Book Review: Physik
by Angie Sage, Mark Zug (Illustrator)
There are so many vibrant characters in these books, and I love the main characters, Septimus and Jenna. I was so interested in the twisty plot! There is a lot going on in every chapter with many moving parts in the plot that wind around each other.
The writing is rich and flavorful, but still concise and pointed. I loved the map in the beginning, and the small illustrations at the beginning of each chapter.
Can’t wait to read more from this series!

Classic Book Review: Moll Flanders
by Daniel Defoe
I just hated this book from start to finish. I hated the main character, Moll Flanders, for all her sneaky, conniving, selfish, evil ways. She is entirely self-centered. She is disgustingly promiscuous. She has several children by different men, and abandons them all. She lies to everyone about everything. She has no morals whatsoever, and shows no remorse for her heinous crimes. She schemes how she can trick people out of their money, and steals from innocent children. She is revolting in every particular.
I did not like the writing style either.
Graphic Novel Review: Little Witches
by Leigh Dragoon
I loved this graphic novel! The artwork is simple and eye-catching, with striking colors. The art panels made the storyline very clear and easy to understand. The expressions of the characters and the action really pulls the reader into the story.
I loved how the March sisters are reimagined, but all the fire and spirit in their characters are preserved. Many of the plot points are the same as the original story, but with subtle twists and added enchantments to make them fit in a magic tale.

Book Review: The Evil Wizard Smallbone
by Delia Sherman
I am delighted with this whimsical tale of wizardry! I love the enchanted town of Smallbone Cove and the rich history of the people there. I love how grumpy and enigmatic Smallbone is, because we slowly discover that he has a heart of gold underneath. I love the twisty plot with all kinds of weird surprises. I like the writing style too! There’s a lot of dry humor and snappy dialogue. Continue reading
