Board Book Review: Made for Me/ Naciste Para Mi

Made for Me by Zack Bush

4 out of 5 stars

A loving Dad tucks his baby child in at night, plays games, and washes their hair at bathtime. The Dad tells his child how much they are loved and cherished. Every new day is an adventure of discovery as the Dad watches their child explore their little world.

I really like that the toddler in the book could be a girl or a boy, so it will appeal to all children! The text is very sweet as the Dad describes how much they love their little baby. It’s a rhyming text, and the rhymes are good and the meter fits.

Board Book Reviews: Things that Go, and What are Unicorns Made of?

Things That Go by Lauren Crisp

Things That Go
by Lauren CrispThomas Elliott (Illustrations)
5 out of 5 stars

This board book helps little readers to explore the different types of planes, ships, and cars. As you lift each flap on the page, a new type of transportation is revealed. There is a hot air balloon hidden behind some clouds, and a surprise submarine hiding under the waves.

I think it’s very cool that all the flaps are different sizes. There are big ones and little ones to help develop hand-eye coordination in little baby readers. The flaps are fairly thick and sturdy, but the smaller ones are still liable to get torn if you aren’t careful.

Baby’s First Farm

5 out of 5 stars

As we visit the farm, we can lift the flaps to discover what animals are hiding in the sheds. The sheep with her little lambs, the hen with her chicks, and the cow with her calves all greet us with animal sounds. At the end there is a large fold-out of all the animals together in the barn.

I love this cute book! My little niece is just learning all the farm animals, so I’m very excited to share this book with her.

Lin goes on an adventure through the rainforest, meeting all kinds of animals, and seeing amazing plants and foliage. She canoes down the Amazon river, hikes through the jungle, and sets up a camp near a beautiful waterfall.

I love the clever die-cut openings in this book! The illustrations are so colorful and vibrant, and each opening reveals something on the next page. I love all the little details in the background of each scene. When I was reading this with my little 3-year-old niece, she kept pointing out butterflies and monkeys in the background.

Board Book Reviews: Count on Me 123, and A Caravan of Camels

Count On Me 123 by J.B. Frank

Count On Me 123
by J.B. Frank (Goodreads Author)
5 out of 5 stars

This board book explores the different types of people that you can always count on. Firefighters, doctors, teachers, grandparents, friends: all these people will be there to help you when you need them. We count down from 10 as the book shows us people working, teaching, and healing.

What a sweet book!!! It’s just so adorable and meaningful to hear about the sweet siblings helping each other, and the moms and dads taking care of their children. I think it’s cool that the book ends by saying that you can also count on yourself, and there is a little mirror on the last page.

This board book folds out to be 56″ long! The reader learns the sounds for each animal on the train. There are sheep, bees, horses, cats, frogs, bunnies, and mice, and a bunch more! And of course, the farmer’s tractor pulls the train along and “goes vroom vroom.”

This is such a cute book! I just love the adorable illustrations and sweet animal characters. It’s colorful and full of interesting little details in the background of each scene.

Board Book Review: Where, Oh Where, Is Barnaby Bear?

Where, Oh Where, Is Barnaby Bear? by Wendy Rouillard

Where, Oh Where, Is Barnaby Bear?
by Wendy Rouillard
5 out of 5 stars

We search for Barnaby Bear everywhere. We look at the beach, in the forest, in the ocean, and even in outerspace. He could be sailing, or having tea, or flying in a plane. We finally find Barnaby fast asleep in bed at the end of the day.

This board book is so cute! Barnaby is such an adventurer, and I love all the wild and crazy things he “could” be doing. He might be sailing on the back of a whale, or in a rocket ship to the moon!
