¡1, 2, 3 Merengue! by Delia Ruiz

¡1, 2, 3 Merengue!: English-Spanish Instruments & Sounds Book
by Delia Ruiz (Goodreads Author)

5 out of 5 stars

As the band plays a merengue, the children dance from right to left and we learn about the different instruments and sounds in the band. The drums, guitar, saxophone, and accordion all have their own quality of sound.

I love this cute book! The illustrations are adorable, and I especially like the designs for the children. They are all very diverse and their smiling faces bring a lot of energy to the story. As a musician, I love to have books introducing different styles of music to little kids!

I’ve been looking for more bilingual books in Spanish and English to read to my little nieces, and I know they will love this series of books from Soaring Kite that teach language through music and dance.

¡1, 2, 3 Cumbia! by Delia Ruiz

¡1, 2, 3 Cumbia!: English-Spanish Manners Book (¡1, 2, 3 Baila!) (English and Spanish Edition)
by Delia Ruiz (Goodreads Author), Graziela Andrade (Illustrator )

5 out of 5 stars

Children practice their best manners while they dance the cumbia together. You might politely ask someone to dance with you, then they will cordially accept or say “No, thank you.” If you accidentally bump into someone, you must apologize, and they graciously forgive you. After the dance, you should thank your dance partner, and they should respond that it was their pleasure. Everyone has fun when we use our best manners!
