5 out of 5 stars

In Animal Antics, the reader pretends to be an elephant swinging their trunk, then a frog hopping to a lily pad, then a cat stretching and meowing. Finally, the reader sits cross-legged with folded hands to be themselves and have a quiet moment of focus.
In Rest and Relax, the reader is guided through a body awareness exercise, squeezing and tightening their legs and arms, and then releasing and relaxing. Beginning from the toes and feet and ending with the shoulders and neck, this book teaches mindfulness in a relatable and age-appropriate way for toddlers. At the end, the reader is prepared to rest and sleep.

These are such imaginative books! Imagining that you are an animal is such a fun way to get children to do yoga poses. I love how it prompts children to get all those wiggles out in a constructive and enjoyable way. Each of the activities are wonderful for releasing all that energy and bringing the body and mind into focus. You also get a wonderful yoga stretch along the way.
The illustrations are adorable. The bright colors really catch your eye, and each of the children in the pictures are full of energy and joy. The drawings are also very useful for demonstrating each action that the text is describing. I think it’s very cute that actual elephants, frogs, and cats join in the movements, and there are both adults and children doing the activity. And there is a seeing-eye/ service dog that joins in the fun too!

These sweet board books are perfect for energetic little readers who need help to focus and stay calm.
