Cheaper by the Dozen Book Review
Dispel from your minds any idea of movie adaptations. We are talking BOOKS here!
“Cheaper by the Dozen” and “Belles on Their Toes” by Frank Gilbreth, Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The dedication of the book says: “To Dad, who only reared twelve children. and To Mother, who reared twelve only children.”
So beautiful!

The new movies with the title “Cheaper by the Dozen” are nothing at all like the books, and are perfectly awful. However the old 1950 movies of both “Cheaper by the Dozen” and “Belles on Their Toes” are pretty close to the original books, and very enjoyable.

Book Store Tour
Come with me on a tour of some old bookstores in Savannah, Georgia! The book stores in Savannah, Georgia, USA that I visited are…
E. Shaver, Bookseller- http://www.eshaverbooks.com/
Book Lady Bookstore – http://www.thebookladybookstore.com/
Both of these gorgeous stores are full of fancy couches and comfy chairs before the fireplaces, nifty nooks and secret out-of-the-way rooms, piled high with beautiful books, some old and rare, some new and shiny, more general bookiness than can be comprehended by the mind of man!
It’s book heaven! I visited book heaven on earth, and I didn’t buy a book. I did meet the owner of one, the actual Book Lady herself, and she was very sweet and gave me the run of the store. If you are ever in Savannah, you should visit these two lovely book havens!
Savannah Children’s Book Festival
I visited beautiful Savannah, Georgia, USA and saw the Children’s Book Festival! What an exciting time!
I was so glad to be able to visit Savannah, at the exact time that they had a Children’s Book Festival!
Here are the famous authors that I saw…
Rachel Randall- “The Dork Diaries”- http://www.dorkdiaries.com/home/
Marc Brown- “Arthur” – http://marcbrownstudios.com/arthur
Amazingly enough, I did not buy one single book. I’m not really sure how I managed it. It’s some sort of miracle! The laws of nature have been reversed, and Kailey did NOT buy a book!
NaNoWriMo Halfway Update
We are halfway through NaNoWriMo, and I am way behind on my word count! I need to get writing!
“Beware the Ides of March” was a famous warning to Julius Caesar that he would be killed on that day. I wonder how many novels have been killed on the Ides of November?
I’m still trying to keep mine alive!
Savannah Children’s Book Festival
I visited the Savannah Children’s Book Festival, and met some famous authors, saw famous illustrators drawing their characters, and shopped along with some lesser known authors too!

Five Children and It Book Trailer
“Five Children and It” by Edith Nesbit has always been one of my very favorite children’s books! I didn’t even read it until I was an adult, but I fell in love with the story and the characters right away.
Other great books by Edith Nesbit are …
“the Phoenix and the Carpet”
“The Enchanted Castle”
“The Railway Children”
“The Magic World”
November Book Packages
These are the books that are being sent out to missionary kids in November! Each of these packages costs about $30.00 to mail, so we really need your donations to cover the cost of postage!
