5 out of 5 stars

Charlie is certain that Asa Pike, who can turn into a wolfbeast at night, is being held prisoner by the evil Bloor family. While his friends try to locate Asa, Charlie is disgusted to find that one of his evil great-aunts has married and is abusing her stepchildren. When stone statues begin to come to life, Charlie must do something to rescue the children and Asa. Their rescue plans are complicated by the arrival of a new student, Dagbert, who is endowed with power over water. Dagbert is known as a drowner, and he tries to befriend Charlie in order to spy on him. Lurking in the shadows is a mysterious Red Knight, who could be an ally of the Red King, or even the Red King himself, but Charlie doesn’t know who to trust.

I love every book in this series so much! This book has a lot of plot twists and new characters with new magical abilities. I love the mystery of the Red Knight and the adventure of the rescue plans!

Charlie is always skeptical of anyone new, and he doesn’t trust people easily, so it was great to see his character development in this book as he learns to trust certain of the new characters.

I especially loved a side plot with Tancred dating this manipulative girl, and then he starts to realize that she’s just not very nice. I loved seeing him stand up for himself and realize who his true friends are!
Olivia started getting on my nerves in this book. She’s just so confrontational and kind of self-centered at times. I love that she is feisty, but she takes it a little too far sometimes.

Overall, I am loving this series, adore all the characters, the writing, the plot, the magic, the adventure!
