Tassie is dismayed to find out that she is The Chosen One, who must recite an ancient spell to stop an evil sorceress named the Shadow from returning. But when she can’t read the ancient language on the ancient scroll, they begin to suspect that someone else must be the real Chosen One. Tassie and her friend Spin, a griffin, set off on a quest to find the real Chosen One and get them to recite the spell and save their island home.

I loved this fun fantasy adventure! The plot is full of mystery and wild shenanigans with dragons, elves, trolls, and a whole host of fantasy characters. I especially liked that there are three wraiths who try very hard to be evil, but their politeness ruins the atmosphere of dramatic doom they are trying to affect. “We will kill you now. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your patience as we bring about your destruction.” Haha! I loved the upside-down humor in their characters!

Tassie is clumsy and accident-prone, but that usually works out in her favor and gets her into and out of trouble. I loved her spunk and her kind heart. She is generous and trusting when no one else will be.

The writing is so hilarious through the entire book, and I loved all the characters! I’m very interested to read the rest of the books in this series! We have a satisfying ending, but it’s left open for them to continue on more adventures as there are still several questions left unanswered.
