Elspeth is the heir to the throne, so she takes it upon herself to travel to far off lands in search of a mage who can train her magic abilities so she can protect her nation. Darkwind is worried that his tribe is in trouble when their magical Hearthstone is broken, and he struggles to protect their borders without violating his oath to never use magic.
I hated this book so much on so many levels. The plot was slow and boring, and every little conversation was stretched out too long. It could have been much more concise.
I didn’t like any of the characters. They are all selfish and self-centered and calculating.
And there is some profanity that annoyed me. And all the main characters have multiple sexual relationships. At first it was just closed-door, but then it turned into explicit sexual content, so I DNF’d the book right then and there.
I will NOT be reading anything else by this author.
