In this final book of the series, Agatha, Tedros, and Sophie have to complete the quests of Excalibur to prove that Tedros is the true King of Camelot. Their friends all rally around them, but it might not be enough to defeat the evil Snake who has usurped the throne. First, they must discover the truth about the Snake’s parentage and how he was able to fool Excalibur into thinking he had the blood of Arthur.

I loved all the magic and fairy tale characters in Camelot! In this book, we get more of the backstory of various characters and how and why they have taken different sides in the battle for Camelot. There were a couple of plot twists that really surprised me, and the ending is very satisfying!

I really liked the magic system surrounding the Storian pen that controls all the fairy tales in this world. We get all this background on a secret myth of the powers of the Storian that is connected with a prophecy of the One True King. It was really interesting to see the further world-building and the depth of the magic.

Tedros has finally gained the balance of confidence and humility to be a real leader. His character development and his relationship with Agatha become complete in all their layers in this book. I really love how he and Agatha work together as leaders for their ragtag group.

Sophie is also finally finding some purpose and direction after vacillating between good and evil and love and friendship for six books. She learns to look reality in the eye and be true to herself. I really love this development for her character!

I partly read this book with my eyes and partly listened to the audiobook narrated by Polly Lee. I think I’m starting to get used to the narrative style, so I enjoyed it okay.
