5 out of 5 stars

This board book tells the story of Jane Eyre, simplified for little readers. It has interactive pull tabs and flaps to reveal the mysteries surrounding Thornfield Manor! Some of the story is told with quotes from the original novel and includes original dialogue as well.

I love this delightful little book! The story is cleverly condensed without losing the Gothic feeling of the original novel. We follow Jane Eyre as she grows up with her cousins, attends the horrible Lowood school, and eventually takes a position as governess at Thornfield and meets Mr. Rochester. She falls in love with Mr. Rochester, but discovers that there is a terrible secret in Thornfield. This little book includes all the major plot points right up to the happy ending for Jane!

The illustrations are so beautiful! I love the dark tones and the crisp lines that capture the moodiness of the story. But it is also attractive for children, and there are so many little details in the background of each scene to catch your attention.

This is such a great way to introduce classics to little readers!
