Bunnies in a Sleigh: A Crazy Christmas Story! (Sunny Town Bunnies)
by Philip Ardagh, Ben Mantle (Illustrator)
A group of bunnies descend on the North Pole, causing mayhem in Santa’s workshop. They tag along in the sleigh on Christmas Eve, helping Santa to deliver presents, making messes, and getting up to all kinds of wild shenanigans. They drink the milk and eat the cookies set out for Santa. They narrowly miss crashing the sleigh. They watch a movie in someone’s house, eat the Christmas candy, get soot all over the carpet, and climb the Christmas trees. These bunnies are crazy, but eventually all the presents have been delivered. Santa and the bunnies go back to the North Pole for a well-deserved snack.
I loved this hilarious book! You have to read it slowly so that you can stop and look at the illustrations. The bunnies are doing all kinds of crazy things in the background of each page! I loved the cute artwork, and the rhyming text. The text has a lyricism and rhythm to it that is really fun to read out loud. So much Christmas fun!

David Atherton’s Christmas Cookbook for Kids (Bake, Make and Learn to Cook)
by David Atherton, Katie Cottle (illustrator)
This cookbook has fun recipes that are easy for kids to try on their own, or with the help of an adult. Some of these Christmas recipes are specially designed to make good gifts, like jam, peanut butter cups, coconut snowballs, and chocolate bark. There is even a little paper craft that shows how to make a special gift box for the sweet treats!
There is a whole section of recipes for party food like little pizzas, sausage rolls, or cheese croquettes. And there is a section with cakes and cookies that have Christmas-themed designs to make reindeer cookies, Santa hats, or snowy owl cupcakes. And for the showstopper recipes there is golden crown bread, chocolate pudding, and of course the classic gingerbread. But this gingerbread recipe is to make a tiny gingerbread village of simple little houses, just right for kids to bake and decorate without it getting too complicated.
I love that each recipe is illustrated with art that shows what to do each step of the way. There are illustrations of children cooking the recipes, decorating for Christmas, and partying with their friends.
The recipes look great! The instructions are very clear. You don’t need bunches of fancy ingredients; you can use basic ingredients that you probably already have in the kitchen. I can’t wait to try the recipe for the Mini Chocolate Logs!
