We’re Going on a Present Hunt
by Goldie Hawk, Angie Rozelaar (Illustrator)
Written in the style of “Going on a Bear Hunt”, these children set off to find a present for the baby. They have to go through a forest of Christmas trees, a herd of hungry reindeer, a crowd of carol singers, and a glittering toy store. In the end, the children find the perfect present and have to go back through all their adventures to reach home and put the present under the tree.
This is so cute and fun! I love the classic “bear hunt” style that has been reimagined for Christmas. I won’t give away the special ending, but it’s really quite clever. This book absolutely has to be read/sung/chanted out loud, and it is a complete delight!
I love the cartoony illustrations! The colorful art style is perfect for festive cheer, and it captures the attention of little readers.
There is also a QR code that leads to a link to the audiobook. So you can read along with the narrator, and there is some music and sound effects included with the story. However, the text is not sung or chanted. It’s just read out normally. I was a little disappointed in the audiobook. I thought it would be more musical.

Santa Claus and the Three Bears
by Lou Peacock, Margarita Kukhtina (Illustrations)
Santa Claus is almost done delivering all the presents on Christmas Eve. There is only one village left, but Santa is so tired. He decides to stop at the Three Bears cottage for a quick rest, but he falls asleep! The Three Bears can’t wake him up, so Baby Bear calls on the Fairy Tale Rescue Rangers to save the day! Together, the Three Little Pigs build a bridge across the Rushing Roaring River; Little Red Riding Hood helps them to navigate the Deepest Darkest Wood. The Seven Dwarves help them tunnel through the Most Monstrous Mountain, and the Gingerbread Man runs to the village at the Back of Beyond to deliver the presents just in time for Christmas Day. But when they return to the Three Bears cottage, Baby Bear discovers that there is one gift left in Santa’s sack! For whom could that last present be?
I loved this story so much! It has all those wonderful fairytale elements that have been reimagined into a fun Christmas story. I love the themes of teamwork and how they work together to bring joy to others. This story is a complete delight!
The illustrations are absolutely beautiful! I love the cute designs for all the fairytale characters. The endpapers are actually a map of the route the characters had to take to deliver the presents. Such a lovely detail!
