Picture Book Review: Art and Joy

Art and Joy by Danielle Krysa

Art and Joy: Best Friends Forever

5 out of 5 stars

Art is a little box full of art supplies. Art teams up with Joy to create beautiful and unique things. But when a mean Bully tells Art that the things they create look “silly, weird, messy, and wrong”, Art gets very anxious. Art tries to create “perfect” art, but only gets more frustrated and sad. Joy is nowhere around. Finally Art goes outside to glean some inspiration from nature. Art refuses to listen to the Bully anymore, and Joy comes back!

I love that there are some creative art ideas at the back of the book, so that you can do your own crafts. You can make some green painted pickles, button flowers, pasta people with googly eyes, or cotton cloud bunnies. So fun!

I loved the silly art style in this book. Art and Joy have stick arms and little dot eyes and big smiles. Such cute designs!

There are so many positive messages in this book! It’s a fresh look at the “Believe in Yourself!” message, and it got me really inspired.
