Supermouse and the Volcano of Doom by M. N. Tahl

5 out of 5 stars

Supermouse patrols through Mouseopolis, stopping bad guys and saving the day! But there are so many crimes and accidents and dangers that Supermouse can’t handle it all. There is just too much daring-do to do! He begins to interview some possible superheroes to join him in the newly-created League of Remarkable Rodents. At first, he is not sure if their particular talents will be useful in the crime-fighting business, but they quickly prove their worth when a massive fondue cheese volcano begins to erupt right outside the city!

This is such a cool book! There are tons of flaps to lift and peek under, and die-cut holes in the pages to peek through. I love that some of the flaps are actually two little pages. One of the flaps is actually a newspaper that Supermouse is reading. It’s so clever and fun!

The writing is adorable and so much fun to read out loud because there is a LOT of alliteration! My favorite part was when “He Fought Fearlessly to Fend off the Flow of the Fiery Fondue.” haha!

I love the cute illustrations! There are lots of details in the background and mouse characters doing funny little things in the back of each scene. The art style is colorful, and I really like the designs for each of the superhero characters!

The little bear asks their mommy when they will be all grown up. The mother bear explains that they still need to make memories together and get strong and learn how to do many things. They will climb the trees to get berries, and swim in the river to catch fish. Someday the little cub will be grown and these memories will make them strong and fearless. But for now, mother and cub are happy just to be together.

This was such a sweet book! The story is so emotional and lovely as the mother and cub share each day together, learning and growing. They are adorable!

I love the beautiful illustrations! Every page is so colorful and warm, and the scenery of the forest is absolutely gorgeous. I wish I could frame each scene and hang it up on the wall to look at. It’s very peaceful and inviting.

Little Hedgehog greets his friend Fox, but Fox is in a bad mood. The forest friends try everything they can think of to make Fox happy again. They even bring him hot chocolate and cookies. But Fox stomps off into the forest as the night is closing in. Hedgehog searches for Fox to warn him of the dangers of getting lost in the dark forest. When Fox sees his friend, he is grateful to have someone who comes looking for him when he is lost. His bad mood is finally gone, swallowed up in gratitude! The forest friends bring a lantern to guide everyone safely home.

I loved this cute book! The little animal characters are so adorable. I liked how they all join together to cheer up their friend Fox. They each offer something that makes them feel happy and grateful and they hope that they can share it with Fox and lift his spirits.

The illustrations are lovely! Every page is colorful and sweet. The designs of the little characters are so cute and fluffy. I love the wintery scenes and the beautiful snowy trees.

This book has positive messages about how it is okay to be grumpy sometimes, but don’t let it stop you from being grateful for all the good things in your life, and especially the good people.

We Are Love by Patricia Hegarty

We Are Love

Animals and their babies create a little heart from their trunks, tails, or wings. Two penguins curve their beaks together to make a heart. A seahorse makes a heart with another seahorse, joining their tails together. Two squirrels reach across the branches to boop their noses and curl their tails into a heart. And a mommy and child make a little heart with their fingers!

This is so sweet and adorable! I love the cute illustrations and all the little animals making hearts. The cool thing is that the die-cut pages can be turned to show first the animals apart and then making the little heart. The story is all about how love keeps us together and how the love of a family is forever.
