Picture Book Review: Adventure Kitty

Adventure Kitty by James Hemingway

4 out of 5 stars

Adventure Kitty goes exploring in the woods, looking for someone to play with. He asks the goose, the raccoon, the possum, and a frog, but no one wants to play with him. He befriends a little beaver, but he avoids the skunk. He gets into a rough fight with a coyote. When he is lost, the Adventure Kitty asks an owl for directions.

This is such a cute book! I loved the brave kitty. He really does have some crazy adventures! He is not afraid to scratch and hiss at any enemies that come along, but he is also ready to make friends.

The illustrations are beautiful! I love the soft art style and all the woodland scenery. All the animal characters are so adorable!

The writing is in fairly good rhyme, which makes it enjoyable to read aloud. However, the rhythm for the poetry doesn’t always line up quite right, and that annoyed me a little bit. Still, it is written fairly well and tells an interesting story.
