by Karen Johnson
This journal has mostly blank-lined pages with funny quotes about parenting. There are quotes from famous people about being a mother, as well as funny stories about parenting mishaps. There are also journaling prompts that ask questions about your favorite thing your child does to make you laugh, or the worst mess your child has made.
There are cute drawings of moms with their babies and toddlers with funny captions.
Some of the jokes are inappropriate though, and even the illustrations sometimes depict nudity. Not just nude children, but nude mothers who have it all hanging out while they breastfeed with no shirt on at all. I mean, I know it happens (hopefully in private), but is that really the best subject for an illustration in a journal?
I’m going to through the whole book with a Sharpie and censure out the bad words.
Personal Disclaimer: I am NOT a mother, nor do I have any plans to become a mom in the near future. This is a gift for my sister-in-law, who is the lovely mom of my two beautiful nieces.
