Book Review: How Do Hurricanes Have an Eye?

How Do Hurricanes Have an Eye? by Lisa Spencer

How Do Hurricanes Have an Eye?: A Book About Natural Disasters
by Lisa Spencer, Srimalie Bassani (illustrator)

5 out of 5 stars

This book examines all different types of natural disasters, including hurricanes, tsunamis, tornados, earthquakes, floods, and drought. We learn how these disasters start and how they are named and rated in scales that measure their destructive forces.

This is such a fun book! I love the cute illustrations and the fun characters. The information is clearly explained step by step in a playful way that makes it memorable. There are some experiments that you can do at the back of the book to make your own little tornado or hurricane in a jar or bowl with some water to swish around. You can also make an earthquake shake table to see how objects react to earthquake movements.
