Puzzle Train Dinosaurs
by Christopher Robbins, Suzanna Covelli (Illustrator)
This adorable puzzle goes through all the letters of the alphabet with beautiful illustrations of dinosaurs that begin with each letter. The puzzle creates one long train with the allosaurus conductor at the front driving the engine of the train.
We get to learn something about each dinosaur by reading about them. “Allosaurus has very sharp teeth! Brachiosaurus eats a lot! Carnotaurus has two horns on its head.”
I love the bright illustrations and the cute dino characters! The colors are attractive, and I love how as you put the puzzle together it tells a little story of what is happening in each train car.
The puzzle pieces are huge, just right for little hands! And the pieces are very sturdy to withstand the destructive forces of a toddler.
I can’t wait to do this puzzle with my little nephew who is 5 years old. He is going to love it!

Lit for Little Hands: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: An Activity Board Book
by Brooke Jorden (adapter), Olga Skomorokhova (Illustrator)
This board book tells the story of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, simplified for little readers. It has interactive pull tabs and flaps to reveal the marvels of the land of Oz! Some of the story is told with quotes from the original novel and includes original dialogue as well.
I love this delightful little book! The story is cleverly condensed without losing the magical feeling of the original novel. We follow Dorothy as she is caught up in a twister and transported to Oz, where she meets the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion. They defeat the Wicked Witch and win the favor of the powerful Wizard.
The illustrations are so beautiful! I love the bright tones and the crisp lines that capture the magic of the story. It is attractive artwork, and there are so many little details in the background of each scene to catch your attention.
This is such a great way to introduce classics to little readers!

Ocean Train: An Activity Board Book (On-Track Learning)
by Christopher Robbins, Susanna Covelli (Illustrator)
This board book folds out to be 56″ long! The reader learns to count as we follow the ocean creatures on the train. There are seahorses, sharks, lobsters, sea turtles, lionfish, and a bunch more! And of course, the submarine pulls the train along while the children scuba dive in the ocean.
This is such a cute book! I just love the adorable illustrations and sweet fishy characters. It’s colorful and full of interesting little details in the background of each scene. Both sides of the train are illustrated. The first side has all the information about different sea creatures as we count up our numbers. Then the other side shows the children scuba diving in beautiful underwater coral reefs with the sharks and sting rays and other fish.
This would be so much fun to read with a child, and teach a toddler how to count up to ten. Any kid would be crazy excited to play with this train and unfold all the pages!
Although the board book is sturdy and well-constructed, there is a possibility that little hands might tear the train at the hinges of each page where the structure is a little more vulnerable. But even the hinges are sturdy and thick. It would have to take a lot of damage before it could be torn, but hey, we all know how destructive toddlers can be. haha! Still I think this board book would hold up pretty well.
