Board Books from Tiger Tales

Noisy ABC by Beth Hamilton

Noisy ABC: A noisy introduction to first words (My First)
by Beth Hamilton, Tiger Tales (Compiler)

5 out of 5 stars

This ABC board book has sound buttons to push for a recording of a woman’s voice saying, “B is for Ball” or “Z is for Zipper”. Each page is full of colorful photos of animals and objects that begin with the letters of the alphabet.

This is such a cute book! I think that little kids will be excited that they can learn their ABCs and enjoy this book on their own. Kids will be delighted to be “reading” a book by themselves without help!

I like that the sound box at the back has an “on/off” switch, so that you can save the battery. The book has a sturdy design to withstand the destructive forces of little hands.

Dinosaur Bus by Helen Hughes

Dinosaur Bus: A shaped countdown book
by Helen Hughes, Mel Matthews (Illustrator)

5 stars

The bus starts out with five dinosaurs on board. At each bus stop, one of the dinosaurs gets off the bus, and we count down to see how many are left. But where is each dinosaur going? There are clues in the illustrations that give us a hint about each dinosaur’s activity for the day, and in the end we see them all having fun at the park!

The art work is so cute! I love the adorable dinosaurs. They are each carrying something- a soccer ball, a gym bag, a skateboard, and other items. The reader can guess where they are going based on what they are carrying.

I love the die-cut openings of this book that let us see each dinosaur all the way to the back of the bus. There is even a dinosaur perched on the roof!

Don't Mix Up My Puppy! by Rosamund Lloyd

Don’t Mix Up My Puppy!
by Rosamund Lloyd,Spencer Wilson (Illustrator)

5 stars

In this board book, you can turn a wheel to reveal different puppy dog tails. The reader has to match the correct tail to the correct puppy. But don’t mix it up! It would look silly to have a dalmatian polka-dot tail on a fluffy white poodle.

I love the artwork for the all the different puppies. They look so adorable! The text describes the type of tail that each puppy should have, but it will be fun for little readers to “mix it up” on purpose and choose the wrong tail. There is so much potential for giggles in this book! Whether you get the right tail or the mixed-up tail, each puppy is so cute!

In this board book, you can turn a wheel to reveal different dinosaur horns and tails. The reader has to match the correct horn or tail to the correct dinosaur. But don’t mix it up! It would look silly to have a triceratops horn on the T-rex!

I love the artwork for the all the different dinos. They look so adorable! Touch and Feelings by Dr. Naira Wilson

Touch and Feelings: Angry Bear
by Dr. Naira Wilson, David Creighton-Pester (Illustrator)

4 of 5 stars

Angry Bear feels growly. He tries eating some honey to feel better, but he drops it on the ground. That makes him even more angry! He takes a minute to listen to his feelings. He takes a deep breath, and then starts to feel better.

The text encourages Angry Bear to think carefully about different feelings and find ways to describe what we feel. Then we can think about what will help us to stay calm.

At the back of the book there is a little child-safe mirror, and the text asks the child to demonstrate their angry face and their contented face. This is such a great way to teach children to recognize their emotions and learn to manage them!

I love the cute illustrations of Angry Bear. The art is very expressive!

Touch and Feelings by Dr. Naira Wilson

Touch and Feelings: Calmer Llama (Touch & Feelings)
by Dr. Naira Wilson, David Creighton-Pester (Illustrator)

5 of 5 stars

Calmer Llama takes time to slow down and relax. They breathe deep breaths, sit outside to enjoy the fresh air, and take time to be thankful for everything they have. Once they have spent some time being quiet, they are refreshed and ready to run and jump and bounce again!

The text encourages the reader to think carefully about different feelings and find ways to describe what we feel. Then we can think about what will help us to stay calm.

At the back of the book there is a little child-safe mirror, and the text asks the child to demonstrate their calm face and their excited face. This is such a great way to teach children to recognize their emotions and learn to manage them!

I love the cute illustrations of Calmer Llama. The art is very expressive! Each page has something fluffy or glittery to touch which describes the feeling on that page. The designs are so clever!
